Do Solar Buddies come with sunscreen

No. The Solar Buddies are an empty vessel that allows you to fill with a sunscreen of your choice.

What sunscreens are best to use in my Solar Buddie?

We always recommend using sunscreens with a medium to thick consistency as thinner sunscreens can leak. It is also advised to use a sunscreen low in alcohol as alcohol can affect adhesive.

What brands shoud I avoid?

Most sunscreens work great with Solar Buddies, but we have found that P20 and Ambre Solaire can affect the adhesive and cause the sponge to detach from the Solar Buddie head.

Can I use thicker, zinc based sunscreens in mt Solar Buddie?

Sometimes thicker creams need a little help to get to the rollerball. You can do this by giving your Solar Buddie a good old tap. We call it ‘the ketchup tap!’

Can my Solar Buddie be washed?

Yes the Solar Buddies can be washed. We recommend you do this every time the vessel becomes empty in luke warm soapy water. The heads need to be washed on a more regular basis to stop the head becoming clogged with sunscreen they then need to be left to air dry. The Solar Buddies are NOT dishwasher safe.

How long do the Solar Buddie heads last for?

The lifespan of the heads depends on how it is used and cared for. We recommend the Solar Buddies are cleaned after the vessel becomes empty. The heads need to be washed on a more regular basis to stop the head becoming clogged with sunscreen. Do not leave the Solar Buddie in direct sunlight or temperatures that exceed 30C. If in extreme heat keep your Solar Buddies in a shaded place. Do not use sunscreens high in alcohol as this can affect the adhesive. If all directions are followed the Solar Buddies can last in excess of 6-8 weeks.

I left my Solar Buddie in the sun and the sponge fell off

The Solar Buddies cannot withstand direct heat above 30C as it will interfere with the adhesive. It is best to leave your Solar Buddies in a bag or in the shade to avoid any issues. Do not leave your Solar Buddie in your car on a hot day.

Am I entitled to a new head?

It depends on the circumstances. If all directions of use have been followed correctly we will investigate further. Contact us directly with the issues you have faced and we can determined the next steps.
